WHAT I'VE BEEN DOING, AND WHO I'VE BEEN DOING IT WITH
DECEMBER 21, 2005: Print. I'm in AM New York today, with five good places to go on a date. One of them is the Russian/Turkish baths on East 9th street. The rest are just as fun, though editorial strangeness has me listing the Central Park carousel as rated-R. There's a reason for that, but it's not listed here. Ah well. I'm sure we can all imagine why I might've said that, no? Here's a link to the file, if you're not in NYC.
DECEMBER 27, 2005: Web... Go, and go directly to my friend Matt Cheney's blog THE MUMPSIMUS (anyone who titles their blog with this underused word is a friend of mine...) for a very silly interview, in which I discuss, among other things, the Gay Messiah, my aversion to tubesocks on men, and the time Big White Cat ate my crush's straw broom.
JANUARY 4, 2006 - My book is currently featured on Hyperion Select's online bookclub. Go there to sign up, and receive a little piece every day until publication...Had I been a little more on the ball, I would have started this on Jan 1...but I am not that cool. You're a few days late, but it's not awful. Plus, it's a nice thing - you get a sneak peek at Hyperion's new books, so in the future you can have the inside track on other lit picks.
JANUARY PRINT: I'm in Glamour this month - on newstands in December with the stunning Salma Hayek on the cover, and I'm also in Health Magazine. I know. It's kooky. But what the hell. Buy the magazines. They're cheap.
JANUARY 9, 2006 - I'm on newstands in several different places today. Entertainment Weekly, with Kiefer Sutherland on the cover. Newsweek, with Sharon on the cover. The Daily Telegraph, London, with a big and fantastic article, plus excerpt.
DECEMBER 19, 2005: PRINT. I'm in NYU Today, well, today. I just have to say that this is something I never thought I'd see. Next I want to co-teach a seminar with my fellow alum, Neil LaBute, as well as perhaps Spike Lee. Wouldn't that be something to see? We could all be very caustic and witty. Or something.

February 13 -17, 2006. PRINT. I'm going to be the guest blogger at Powell's Books website. I love Powell's with every bit of my wizened little writer's soul. It's my favorite bookstore in the country, as far as pure shelf-climbing satisfaction is concerned. I created two severe book-avalanches there as a child, and this is my reward. Obviously, Powell's has the right kind of Yes-Embracing people. Log on to see what I think about..everything. It should be fun. I may be unhinged. I know you love that. And then there's the fact that recent guest bloggers have included such literary luminaries as Adam Gopnik, and Susan Orlean. Yep. Unhinged will be the word.
FEBRUARY 14, 2006 - SEATTLE. ME. Noon. For all you Starbucks Employees, I'm coming to your headquarters to hang out privately with you at noon on Valentine's Day. That's right. Appreciate this. I expect hand-made Valentines, because the cake is chocolate, and therefore, I can't eat it without being neurotic about getting it all over my face. Basically, I'll be talking about love. You'll be chowing on cake. It'll be Noon. I'll be signing your books and giving you a blessing, if you need one to find a Valentine.

Maybe you'll find someone for next year at this event..or at least drink enough that you stop being so picky. Just say yes! Come on, now! The people of Seattle are sexy, rugged, and they kayak in their spare time. How is this not appealing? GET YOUR TICKETS NOW! RIGHT NOW! It's a measly 20 bucks.

This will be way fun, and I suggest you arrive early, to see me no doubt tugging at whatever attire I've ended up in. LA makes me neurotic. If you want to meet my sister Molly, she of the shelfie fame - and fabulous Pilates instruction too, this is the place to do it! Lots of women have bonded with Shelfie, and she's even better in person.
MARCH 5th, 2006 - SEATTLE. ME. Hanging out - and doing some talking and signing - at the Crave Oscar party. It's gonna be fun. There are pedicures involved. Also the Oscars, but personally, I think the cocktail part of the evening is more fun. 5 -9pm. Get your tickets now!

APRIL 22 & 23rd, 2006 - PORTLAND, OREGON. I'm appearing at the Wordstock Book Festival. I kinda like how that phrase looks. It sounds like I'm going to pop out of a top hat like a rabbit, or something. 11:00am on Sunday the 23rd at the Oregon Convention Center, on the Powell's Stage. Look at the website for ticket stuff. I am scheduled pre-Steve Almond. I'm gonna be there all day on Saturday, too, hanging out, so come and find me. If you're coming for me, you should stay for him, because he's great. Or, hell, stay for any of the other excellent authors. Ron Carlson is shortly after me, and he's one of the best readings I've ever been to. It's a good one. Worth the drive, if you're not in Portland, and are, for example, in Seattle, only 1 hour and 45 minutes away. Come on!
